We would come and stay again as it was so well located and reasonably priced

Nice hotel for the price, and the staff were lovely. It had a pool as well as being located near the lido. The hotel was a short walk to the main road with lots of bars and restaurants and regular buses to Funchal itself other parts of the island

The room decor was a little tired and need some TLC. The pillows were like marshmallows

Location and stuff was nice.

However, The floor was definetly not cleaned and there were lots of hair on the floor and even on a hand towel in the bathroom. This being the second time i stay here after 4 years of my first visit i can tell the hotel needs some renovation as many things looks rusty. Definetly wont come back unfortunately.

Central hotel with some options for improvement

Friendly service, central location in Funchal, outside bar and pool, the availability of inside pool (did not use it though) and evening entertainment (did not attend much, but appreciated it). Also, the shower pressure was outstanding and I expected a lot less on the 4th floor.

Breakfast was okayish with its variety, but more cheap style (powder juice etc.). Also, the scrambled eggs tasted awful for four days in a row even though I notified the waiter about the bad/burned taste, nothing happened for a while. At the beginning and on my last day of stay, it tasted good again. Also, I was not a big fan of the steep hill towards the hotel and the address is misleading. You need to walk another 250m up the hill after getting out of the taxi and they share the address with another hotel. This also confuses delivery services so expect some extra time or send them a screenshot of the right position. Also, the gate is closed too often and it would be helpful to know about it before arrival to ask the taxi driver to drive up. Maybe, update the hotel description, use signs etc. - in the end I asked the other reception for guidance. While my room was generally good (wear level!) and the bed was comfy, the bathroom was so tiny that I as an obese person had some trouble getting into the shower each day. You definitely wanna ask at the reception for bigger bathrooms maybe. The dinner is not worth the price (24) and I'd recommend going dining downtown for half the price. Especially, before 5pm some restaurants still offer discounts. This is also recommended, since it gets really cold outside after the sun is down (~6pm, January).

The windows are really old and one of the day was a heavy storm and we couldn’t sleep because the windows were bouncing so bad that looked like they were going to break. Plus water and wind were coming inside the room.

Cons: • No air conditioning, high humidity, and the room was with pool view, so strong smell of the pool, and in the evening there were shows with loud music and singing, so you could not sleep while it was finished. • Smoking is allowed on the terrace during breakfast; the smell spreads across the terrace. As a non-smoker, I was suffocating and coughing. • Ants in the bathroom of the room. • Upon check-in, there were no towels in the room. We had to request them twice and waited half a day to get them (which is critical after a long journey from Canada via Iceland to London, and from there via Porto to Madeira, when all you want is a shower and some sleep). • No early check-in option (even paid). We had to wait from 8 AM to 3 PM. • The smoking area is located right in front of the hotel, so people smoke at the main entrance without regard for other guests, making it sometimes impossible to breathe.

Good facilities but desperately needs updating

Good facilities including a nice bar, gym, two pools, sun terraces and comfortable public areas. Very good value for money so definitely worth considering if you're on a budget

No a/c in room meant I had to keep the curtains closed to keep the room as a manageable temperature. Good sized corner room but decor and furniture were very tired. Hotel access road is a steep hill which would cause problems for anyone with mobility problems.
