The location. Good to stay when is good weather

The windows are really old and one of the day was a heavy storm and we couldn’t sleep because the windows were bouncing so bad that looked like they were going to break. Plus water and wind were coming inside the room.

Proper hotel

Hotel is clean. There is a pretty good sauna, but the staff could not always switch it on (maybe they did not know the instructions)

Cons: • No air conditioning, high humidity, and the room was with pool view, so strong smell of the pool, and in the evening there were shows with loud music and singing, so you could not sleep while it was finished. • Smoking is allowed on the terrace during breakfast; the smell spreads across the terrace. As a non-smoker, I was suffocating and coughing. • Ants in the bathroom of the room. • Upon check-in, there were no towels in the room. We had to request them twice and waited half a day to get them (which is critical after a long journey from Canada via Iceland to London, and from there via Porto to Madeira, when all you want is a shower and some sleep). • No early check-in option (even paid). We had to wait from 8 AM to 3 PM. • The smoking area is located right in front of the hotel, so people smoke at the main entrance without regard for other guests, making it sometimes impossible to breathe.

Good facilities but desperately needs updating

Good facilities including a nice bar, gym, two pools, sun terraces and comfortable public areas. Very good value for money so definitely worth considering if you're on a budget

No a/c in room meant I had to keep the curtains closed to keep the room as a manageable temperature. Good sized corner room but decor and furniture were very tired. Hotel access road is a steep hill which would cause problems for anyone with mobility problems.

The location is good, there are nice restaurants near by.

We did not like the breakfast spread, there was no great variety and no gluten-free and lactose-free options available. The parking spots are limited and you need to reserve a spot otherwise you can’t park in the hotel area. The rooms are very outdated and did not have AC.

The views around. Close to many good restaurants.

The staff, at the check-in there was this girl that seemed to hate what she was doing, at the check out another lady Elma who has no problem to rise up her voice at you if she feels the pressure from the huge line of people waiting to do the check-out. The professionalism of the employees is very poor. The breakfast- lots of things but poor quality on everything. The coffee from those machines is disgusting. In the bathroom there was hair from the previous guess, a very superficial cleaning in general.

Ok, but wouldn’t go there second time

It was very clean. Towels were white, bed was clean, all from cleaning perspective is exceptional.

It wasn’t that easy to find. Rooms are noisy and overall building seems to be ‘tired’. While it was quite good in general there are definitely better value for money options.

Good value for money

The facilities are quite nice. The external pool is beautiful (even though its water is cold), but having a tennis court and an internal pool makes a difference. The breakfast is very diverse and some items are delicious - there was an actual queue for the sunnyside-up eggs whenever they were available. The daily evening activities also allow for some interesting entertainment opportunities.

The room is relatively small, outdated, and it looks unfurnished, as it has only the bare minimum items and the space feels underused. The noise insulation is insufficient, and it can get quite rowdy at night. It was quite difficult to close the doors without slamming them, and there are not enough elevators, which led to long waiting times in busy hours.
